With the city of Chicago being so close to Lake Michigan, it is no surprise that there would be a multitude of Beaches. When the warmer seasons begin to approach the city of Chicago after frigid winters, both locals and visitors flock towards the beaches to enjoy a day in the sun with friends and family.
North Avenue Beach is one of Chicago’s most popular beaches for its casual bars and recreation options. Visitors can drop by Castaways, a stylish beach house located on North Avenue Beach, to grab food while enjoying the oceanic view. The Shore Club, located a bit further from the beach, offers a classier experience with its cocktails and reservations for a private cabana. Paddleboard, kayak and jet ski rentals are also available for those that want to take in the scenery through water sports.
If you want to enjoy Chicago’s beaches near the city, then Oak Street Beach is the place to go to. Its close proximity to downtown allows you to view some of Chicago’s iconic buildings, like The Drake Hotel, while relaxing on the white sand. Like most beaches, Oak Street Beach offers bike rentals, chair rentals, volleyball courts, and plenty of space to play beach sports and spread out in the sand.
